What does the law say?

In accordance with Article 162, Paragraph 2 of the Road Traffic Act of the Republic of Bulgaria, foreigners with a permit for long-term or permanent residence have the right to drive motor vehicles on its territory using driver’s licenses issued by a state that is not a member of the European Union or another state not party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area, or the Swiss Confederation, for a period not exceeding one year from the date of issue of the residence document.
