- Pensioners supported by a state pension, who are citizens of the respective country, and have sufficient means to reside in Bulgaria.
- Article 24, paragraph 1, item 10 of the Law on Foreigners in the Republic of Bulgaria.
- The permit is valid for up to one year.
Documents required for obtaining a residence permit (Prolonged Residence Permit)

Section for Personal Documents
1️⃣ Passport and residence card.*
*) Please note that a personal residence card is not required for initial applications,
but only for subsequent applications (renewals).
2️⃣ Completed application for prolonged residence permit.
Fill out3️⃣ Copy of residence card* and passport:
Page with photo and personal details;
Page with "D" visa** and stamp of the last entry to the territory of Bulgaria.
*) A copy of the residence card is not required for initial application, it is only necessary for subsequent applications (renewals).
**) A copy of the "D" visa is not required for subsequent applications (renewals), but a copy of the page with the stamp of the last entry will be required.
4️⃣ Certificate of No Criminal Record with translation and legalization.
Validity period: 6 months from the date of issue.*
*) Required only for initial application for permission, not required for subsequent
applications (renewals).
5️⃣ Medical insurance policy valid in the Republic of Bulgaria.
The insurance should be obtained prior to the requested date
of permit validity, and the coverage amount should be at least 30,000 euros
(a certified copy by an insurance agent).

Residential Information
6️⃣ Deed of Property Ownership (simple copy) or Lease Agreement
with a Declaration from the property owner, according to § 1, item 20,
sub-item 2 of the supplementary to the Law on foreigners (notarized copies).

Confirmation of Sufficient Funds
7️⃣ Bank Statement or Bank Certificate from any bank within
the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria, confirming the availability
of funds for the applicant's stay for a minimum period of six months.
For calculation purposes, the applicant must have an amount not less
than the minimum pension for one month of residence.
As of July 1, 2023, the minimum pension in Bulgaria is 524 BGN.
The certificate must be issued no earlier than one month prior to the date
of document submission.

Confirmation of Residence Basis
8️⃣ One of these documents, translated into Bulgarian with subsequent notarized translation certification (legalization), explicitly stating that the pension is granted indefinitely.
#️⃣ - Pension certificate (notarized copy);
Prepare#️⃣ - Pension fund certificate confirming the applicant's pensioner status (notarized copy);
Prepare#️⃣ - Extract from the district pension fund office (social security department)
regarding the pensions received by the pensioner for the last three months
up to the date of application for a "D" visa (notarized copy).
Expenses and Fees for obtaining a residence permit
⏺️ Tariffs for this residency basis:
• 10 BGN: application processing fee.
• 200 BGN: fee for a six-month permit.
• 500 BGN: fee for an annual permit.
⏺️ Cost and processing times
for the ID card:
• 45 BGN: production within 30 days.
• 90 BGN: production within 10 days.
• 225 BGN: production within 3 days.
